德國鋼琴家Gerhard Oppitz歐皮玆相當擅長浪漫樂派的音樂，彈奏的品質亦相當到位，目前也是hanssler大力投資的音樂家。
出生於1953年，是1977年「魯賓斯坦鋼琴大賽」首獎得主。五歲就開始學鋼琴，十一歲登台演出莫札特的D小調鋼琴協奏曲，被譽為音樂神童。歐皮茲的演奏是正統的德奧派風格，穩健而高雅，觸鍵紮實，琴音飽滿又雄渾有勁身。他個人最鍾情於浪漫樂派與古典樂派的鋼琴曲目，尤其是莫札特與貝多芬兩位大師的作品。
在RCA/BMG時期，Oppitz就已經完成葛立格與布拉姆斯兩人的獨奏鋼琴作品全集。而這張專輯則是將Oppitz 2004-2006在hanssler所錄製發行過的貝多芬鋼琴奏鳴曲集合而成，包裝為紙盒、白紙套，屬於平價版。使用鋼琴為史坦威D型。
